About

Initially founded in 2006 as an atmospheric black metal solo-project. The first song called “Screams”, recorded in mid-2006, was followed by three more tracks that, for various reasons, remained unpublished. Following a one-year hiatus, Vandalicum resumed work on the project and recorded three additional tracks. These, combined with earlier material and a newly added ambient piece recorded in January 2009, culminated in the completion of Vranorod's first official demo, which was followed by the debut album soon afterwards. In early 2010, Jelena and Dušan joined the band, marking a departure from the black metal stylings of the earlier works. As time passed, the new material embraced even more atmospheric textures, integrating elements of ambient music, shoegaze, and post-rock, reflecting broader underground trends prevalent at the time. In mid-to-late 2011, now as a full-fledged band, Vranorod recorded their third and final album, completely shedding their black metal roots in favour of a genre-bending atmospheric pop rock sound. A short promotional period followed, including some gigs, compilation appearances, and a local TV segment advertising the album. Although unclear when exactly, drummer Dušan’s move to Belgrade and the band’s inability to find a replacement marked the end of Vranorod, with members moving on to different projects. Compilation appearances: - "In the Deep Dark Forest" on "14 1/2 Years of Struggle Against... (Apraxia Tribute)" (First Line Records, 2011). - "Invoking the Mountain Spirit" (04:51) on Black Metal Agenda Volume 26: Le Crépuscule du Soir Sampler (May 2011, Black Metal Agenda; digital sampler) - "Tears of Forest" (05:02) on Nocturne - Vol. 2 (30th March 2010, Nocturne Music Magazine; companion CD compilation to the issue #2 of Nocturne Magazine) - "Five Inches Above Me" (03:52) on "Sound of Struggle" (March 25th 2013, Balkanrock Records [BRR#001]; CD-R and digital release)
