About
Death Aura was born the 3rd of March 2007, and recorded and written its first demo "Winds of Mortal Hope". According to an interview, Death Aura begun life as "Celestial" and its seeds are from late 2004, based on Tomb of...'s first demo "...the Rotting Break". Though the two projects changed throughout time, apparently Tomb of... always remained a sister project of Death Aura. The project was originally meant to release a trilogy of works, titled 'Winds of Mortal Hope', 'Vie Passé', 'Noble Brevity' respectively, but it has since been announced that the trilogy plans have been scrapped. Claustrophobist had long alluded that the trilogy might never be completed unless he was certain he could recapture the sound, the spirit and the atmosphere of the original, but he had never prior to this confirmed that the trilogy has been cancelled. As it remains, the final part of the trilogy may never be released. As of April 2010, the band has been confirmed to have split-up, with 'The Horn of the Monocerus' having been completed in March 2010. There are plans to officially release it, but the band has not yet given out concrete information on the release. Tomb of... remains as the only active metal project by Claustrophobist. In January 2011 it was announced that Death Aura and Daunenskalpel have been fused to create one project. The project name is now Daunenskalpel and the use of 'Death Aura' has been discontinued. There has not been an announcement regarding any possible re-releases of Death Aura works or whether the Death Aura trilogy will be completed under the Daunenskalpel name. As 'Daunenskalpel' is concerned, there is a single release and a full-length announced on the horizon. The final release of Death Aura was a split release with Daunenskalpel in December 2010. It has an extremely limited print of 7 copies and was only given away through a planned promotion. It is now confirmed that all tracks from the split will also be included in the upcoming Daunenskalpel Full-Length, officially recognizing that Daunenskalpel is no longer a separate project but the continuation of Death Aura. The band under its original name (Death Aura) used to play a mixture of depressive black metal and ambient. The sound now (Daunenskalpel) is more akin to Shoegazer Black Metal, but still heavily fuses depressive black metal and ambient elements. As of April 2012, it has been announced that Krysanthoney will release a Death Aura box set containing all Death Aura works to date, including the complete trilogy, Horn of the Monocerus and the split with Daunenskalpel.
